First off wow its been along time since i've posted but with this upcoming spring and summer of great MMA action from the UFC, WEC, and Strikeforce im back with my view of the MMA world.
As most of you know this month on the 27th in Newark Jersey. One of the biggest cards in recent UFC history is going on the event will be held at the Prudential Center which holds about 19,500 people the event is sold out within hours and in the evenings main event for the UFC Welterweight Championship Title, between current champion Georges "Rush" St Pierre and the challenger Dan "The Outlaw" Hardy. Will be a battle for the ages in my opinion. Also in the nights co-main event for the UFC Interm Heaveyweight Champsion match with the winning moving on to face current Heaveyweight champion Brock Lesnar, some time in the summer. The card is stacked from top to bottom with great and interesting fights also including a welterweight showdown between Jon Fitch and Thiago Alves which should provide some fireworks for the night.
Now I am going to have many more post about this event in the upcoming days and weeks but for this story is all about Dan "The Outlaw" Hardy. Now most of you know that Hardy is my favorite fighter so I am abit bias about this topic which is fine because I'm not asking you to like him as much as I do or even like him a little bit all I'm asking is that after you read this you respect him and don't be shocked if he upsets Georges St Pierre and wins the UFC Welterweight Title on March 27th.
Dan Hardy born May 17th 1982 in Nottingham, England he trains is the study of Muay Thai, Tae Kwon Do, And his favorite Boxing. growing up in Nottingham Hardy quickly developed an interest in art and also in music he played in several punk rock bands. In 2002 Hardy attended Nottingham Trent University to study art and design where he attended for 3 years only to leave on his final year to pursue a MMA full time.
In 2004 Hardy had his first profession fight in Bracknell, England, where he lost the fight via a second round (rear naked choke) 17 of Hardys first 20 profession fights took place in England where over those 20 fights he had a record of 14-5-1. After those fights he would go to Japan which many consider the home of MMA where he had three fights in a row over a 7 month span where he had won the first two fights. The third fight on December 1st 2007 which took place in Tokyo, Japan against Yoshiyuki Yoshida, which Hardy lost after a questionable DQ for a Groin Kick. Hardy still does not like to talk about that fight to this day.
After the Yoshida fight a fire light and Hardy would go on to win his next 3 fights and would check the eye of the UFC. Hardys UFC debut would take place October 18th against Akinhiro Gono which Hardy would go on to win via s (Spilt Decision) Hardy would go on to win his next 2 UFC fights against Rory Markham via KO, and against Marcs Davis via (Split Descision) Hardys biggest fight would take place at UFC 105 on November 14th against Mike Swick with the winner going on to fight St Pierre for the Welterweight Title. Hardy would go on to dominate the fight against Swick who is a top of the line UFC contender Hardy who punished Swick with punch and elbow after elbow went on to win the fight via (unanimous decision) which would give Hardy a 7 fight win streak and also earn him his title shot which will take place March 27th.
Now I understand that Georges St Pierre is one of the best pound for pound fighters in the world if not the best but when you break the fight down there are some serious problems that Hardy can throw at St Pierre. Over his Career St Pierre has 21 profession fights for a record of 19-2 many people think St Pierre has the advantage over Hardy in fight experience but Hardy has 31 fights in his MMA career for a record of 24-6-1. Also Hardy is a banger who loves to stand and trade punches and St Pierre isnt weak at many things but one in question is his chin which Hardy knows and will trade and take advantage of.
Also some MMA Fans believe that St Pierre is invincible winning 12 out of his last 14, many of them don't know that Hardy will also be coming into this fight winning 12 out of his last 14 fights as well. Now you may be saying well St Pierre has beaten more top contenders which is true St Pierres list includs two wins over each BJ Penn and Matt Hughes each who will someday be in the UFC Hall of Fame. As for Hardy his most impressive win is over Mike Swick. Now remember at the beginning of this I said all I want is for you to respect Hardy now even thou his list of wins isn't as star stacked as St Pierre, Hardy has won the same amount of fights in a row and deserves some respect.
So I hope after your done reading this sure you may not be a Dan Hardy lover like I am, but I hope you have some respect for what he has done in MMA at a age of 27 and if he does win the title against St Pierre at UFC 111 on March 27th you won't be completely shocked!
